Umbrella bodies

NWPA

The North Wales Photographic Association is the umbrella organisation that supports all the clubs in the North Wales area.

They give legal advice if required, provide our insurance cover and organise events and competitions throughout the year.

Individual members, or the club as a whole, can compete with others in North Wales. All members are invited to the judging sessions in Llandudno.

They also publish a free regular newsletter, which our members can subscribe to.

PAGB

The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. Regional associations such as the NWPA pay a small fee to belong to it.

It formulates the rules for all organised competitions.

All our club members can register with the PAGB to access their store of documents and images and subscribe to their free e-newsletter.

FIAP

The  Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique is the world organising body. It provides patronage for Salon competitions run by clubs around the world.

All club members get access to the FIAP app.

It is a cloud web application designed to help all those who enter FIAP Salons to administer all their entries and provides all the tools that are needed:

  • finding a FIAP Salon
  • recording your entries and results
  • getting up-to-date insights about your standing and your FIAP Stats
  • printing your FIAP records and simply pasting them onto the FIAP Application form.

Camversation

This is an independent online group run by Mark Evans, which developed out of a Covid project. Some of the world’s best photographers show their work here or provide instruction via Zoom events. These currently cost £6 a session.

I just noticed they have a free 15 page guide to Lightroom Classic!
